Use an objective to plan backward, starting with the deadline/due date of your task or project, and creating objective-aligned tasks that lead up to it. |

I try to do the daily planning first thing in the morning when I sit down at my computer but this doesn’t work when I have an early meeting and don't get time beforehand, like today! Then I can easily get distracted (think I have ADD) and find that I've been at my desk for hours doing busy work and not working on my high-priority tasks. 🎙 Ashutosh's response:
I had a similar situation today. I had two meetings to start the day at 7 AM and 8 AM and I don't even typically wake up until 7:30 AM, so planning my day before meetings is out of the question.
What’s worked for me is to just power through all my morning meetings without first planning the day. Once the meetings are over, I’ll take a short break, go for a walk, and come back to my desk to plan my day like I’m starting a new day. Obviously, I plan to do less work since I’ve already used up a big chunk of energy for the day.
Basically, on days like this, I defer my planning for the part of my day that I own. This works since morning meetings are the exception not the norm for me. If that’s your norm, I’d strongly consider planning your day the night before so you design a better flow to your day.
